Artist Bio
Betul Kuyruk is a Naarm based artist and illustrator whose work is characterised by her depiction of symbols and motifs found in Anatolian and Middle Eastern cultures. She is inspired by the superstitious beliefs and mystical stories of the region, drawing upon them for her exploration into identity and consciousness.
Artist Statement
Batıl İnanç is a series of introspective artworks that address ideas of self-identity and purpose by exploring mystical stories and spiritual beliefs embedded into Turkish culture. Betul’s use of symbolism unearths aspects of destiny and fate, femininity, nature and biology, and spirituality. She translates these ideas through her use of mystical visual motifs, creating intricate compositions that tell a story.
