Artist Bio
TEO is a multidisciplinary artist living and working off-grid in remote bushland. Deeply attuned to their surrounding environment, TEO's practice serves as a lens through which personal experiences and quiet observations unfold. Memory and emotion move through the work, hinting at broader narratives that blur the boundary between the personal and the universal.
Artist Statement
"This work centres on a she-oak I have observed since its emergence from seed. Its youthful suppleness allows it to sway with a dancer's grace, shaped continuously by wind and weather. I am drawn to she-oaks for their sinuous limbs and quiet resilience- forms that reveal the marks of time and environment. Working synthetic polymer into raw cotton, I used a process akin to drawing with coloured pencil, scrubbing and layering pigment into the surface. Through this method, I sought to evoke a sense of movement and breath, capturing the tree not as a fixed object, but as a living, responsive presence."
