UPCOMING EVENTS

Running from November to February, our Q3 rotation Big Dreaming presents 21 works by First Nations artists throughout Howler’s Garden Bar. The exhibition transforms the venue into a relaxed, open gallery that lets visitors encounter art naturally within a social setting.

Featuring painting, illustration, digital and mixed media, the works explore themes of Culture, spirituality and place. The season launches on 26th November with an opening night of art and music, before closing with a community celebration in February.

Platform and Soundcheck close out the year with Hybrid — a multi-floor exhibition crossed party inside an iconic Fitzroy venue rarely opened to the public. Move between immersive projections, interactive installations and new media worlds shaped by ten artists downstairs, while Soundcheck curates a night of techno and left-field electronics upstairs.

The night begins in the courtyard with DJ sets before shifting upstairs at 9pm for a live audio-visual performance that launches the party. With each floor offering its own atmosphere, Hybrid invites you to wander, listen and explore.

PLATFORM PRESENTS: HELD BRIEFLY

Held on 1–2 November at Abbotsford Convent, Held, Briefly brought together artists, performers and market stallholders for a weekend exploring the beauty of impermanence. Through works spanning painting, new media, sculpture, installation and more, the exhibition invited audiences to sit inside the tenderness of things that don’t last—where connection can be both grounding and fleeting, where beginnings live inside endings, and where the temporary holds its own kind of fullness .

PLATFORM PRESENTS: BUGSKIN METAMORPHOSIS

Platform Presents returned with Bugskin Chapter 2 — a one-night-only art party inside the heritage-listed Norla Dome. Guests stepped into a mutated ecosystem where nature and machine collided through audio-reactive visuals, interactive installations and a new central stage design.

The night was soundtracked by a lineup of trance, techno and hard groove DJs built for deep listening, dancing and exploring. With capacity strictly limited, entry operated on a guest-list-only basis.

PLATFORM PRESENTS: HOWLER Q2 ROTATION

Held from August to November at Howler, our Q2 exhibition features 26 works by 13 artists across the walls of Howler’s garden. This seasonal showcase transforms the venue’s beer garden into an evolving open-air gallery, bringing visual art into an everyday setting.

 

The collection includes works in oil, acrylic and mixed media, all inviting quiet moments of reflection in a bustling social space. The program opened on 7th August and wraps with a closing party in November with DJs and drinks to celebrate the end of the season.

Platform Presents brought Bugskin to the heritage-listed Norla Dome on the 15th of August.

 

The one-night-only art party transformed the space into a futuristic ecosystem, featuring live audio-reactive visuals from Emma x Zhang, an interactive installation by Nick Marriott and a high-energy lineup of 4 DJs across trance, techno and hard groove.

Held on June 21–22 at Abbotsford Convent, Lost in Translation showcased the work of 33 artists, 15 market stalls and 5 DJs. This group exhibition invited audiences to step into the spaces between meaning, exploring fleeting memories, connections and feelings that resist definition. Through diverse works, the show reflected on what is lost in translation—between words, between people, and between moments.

Held on May 17–24 at Dark Horse Experiment, the Asian Heritage Week Exhibition showcased the work of 49 artists. Curated in collaboration with HOISZN, this group exhibition celebrated the creative contributions of Asian Australian artists across generations. While Asian Heritage Week is not yet formally recognised in Australia, this exhibition carved out space to spotlight intergenerational talent and encourage deeper conversations around belonging, visibility, and representation.

PLATFORM PRESENTS: HOWLER Q1 ROTATION

Held from May to August at Howler, our inaugural Q1 rotation marked the launch of our new quarterly artist residency in Howler's Garden. Featuring over 30 works by 12 artists, the exhibition wove visual art into Howler’s everyday rhythms inviting visitors to encounter creativity as they gathered, ate, danced and unwound. The season opened with an evening of artist talks, DJs and the launch of our first quarterly zine and the works remained on view throughout winter for visitors to explore Tuesday to Sunday.

PLATFORM x HER: DINNER AFTER PARTIES

Platform and Her Music Equality collaborated together to bring you the dinner AFTER parties at Howler on the 1st of March. Featuring live audio-reactive visuals by EXZ, a garden takeover of works by 11 visual artists and a powerhouse line up of 5 DJs.

Held on March 1st-2nd at Abbotsford Convent, You're Invited to Our Dinner Party was a collaboration with WIRE, raising $2,000 to support their vital work in gender equity. Featuring 43 artists, 11 market stalls, 2 performances, 5 panelists, and 2 DJs, the event reimagined the dinner party as a space of empowerment and mutual support. Inspired by the tradition of dinner tables as sanctuaries for female and non-binary individuals, the exhibition invited attendees to engage with art as a shared feast of perspectives—honouring resilience, vulnerability, and transformation. Through conversation, music, and creativity, the event celebrated the connections that nourish us, both individually and as a community.

To celebrate five years of Platform Presents, a Day2Night birthday bash was held on November 9th. The event began with a daytime exhibition from 2 PM to 8 PM at Abbotsford Convent, where attendees explored new and reimagined works from 50+ returning artists and market stallholders. Guests also had the opportunity to engage with interactive installations from past immersive art parties, including Kitty Playground and Astroverse.

The celebration continued at the after-party from 8 PM to 1 AM at QQQ St Park, featuring techno, hard groove, and audio-reactive visuals.

Open Seen and Platform Presents welcomed you to an infinite underground club night @ Rubix Warehouse ☆ 17th of August, Saturday 10PM - 3AM. One night of boundless immersive art by Kurious Kat, Nick Marriott, Jess Dang, Ju Youn Park and Justine Fajardo featuring global club sounds by DJ selectors Margáchi (Philippines), Cookies & Cream, Missè, Garfie, & Mon Franco ☆

Kitty Playground was one night of darkness and sensuality where Platform & Kurious Kat transformed Evies Disco Diner into Melbourne's very own sexy dungeon.  One night of immersive art by Kurious Kat, b3bys__realm, Jess Dang, Ju Youn Park, and Justine Fajardo and sounds by Anna B, Mon Franco, Soares, Elbain, and MJK.

Held on February 16th 2024, at Abbotsford Convent, this group exhibition featured 40 artists, 3 DJs, and 11 market stalls. The theme "Ascendant" was a testament to collective resilience, questioning and reimagining the constraints of patriarchy while celebrating diversity and striving towards gender equality.

Held on November 4th 2023, at Abbotsford Convent, this group exhibition featured 33 artists, 3 DJs, and 8 market stalls. The theme took attendees on a journey beyond the realms of ordinary.

Held on June 24th, 2023, at Abbotsford Convent, this group exhibition featured 32 artists, 5 DJs, and 6 market stalls. The theme explored identity and belonging, inviting attendees to warm up their winter night by delving into the essence of what it means to be human.

Held on March 26th, 2023, at Abbotsford Convent, this group exhibition featured 34 artists, 4 DJs, and 9 market stalls. The theme centered on intersectionality and equity, focusing on WOC, trans women, women of different abilities, and other marginalized groups. The event aimed to shift the conversation to equal rights for all, empowering the fight against sexism and misogyny.
