Artist Bio
Katie is a 20 year old artist working primarily in oil paint who uses art as an outlet to show her loves in life, sentimental moments, or longing for what loves and moments she may have lost or miss. Through the use of bright colours and a loose painting style, she strives to display her personal feelings within what she paints, allowing them to fill the canvas and invoke those same feelings into the viewer.
Artist Statement
Summer can be an uncomfortable time of the year for many. It's hot, sticky, sweaty and for many, rather unpleasant. 'Keep cool forever' is a visual representation of how summer is viewed through Katie's eyes. Using bright and eye catching colours to represent childlike joy, it represents a correlation between the season and Katie's most fond childhood memories and the ways in which she thrives during that time of year. The idea of summer is an outlet used by Katie to see the full potential and beauty in life, and the inspiration behind these works. The sun as it reveals itself during summer months has the ability to reveal so many colours which would otherwise be dull in the shade. It's easy to look past summer as being a season that brings much discomfort but look a little bit further and one can find the light and visibility the sun is there to provide.
